Different EU countries has difficult energy mixes and different logistical structures for energy. It takes long time to replaice all oil and gas from Russia with supplies from other countries which also would cost several times more than today. Several EU countries just can't swith off the oil and gas supplies over the night from Russia because that would cause enormous damages for the economy in EU with massive unemployment in companies shutting down their production and crisis for the housholds. So the main focus should be to keep economy on track in the EU and even accept paying for gas and oil from Russia over a time period in that currency in the way that is necessary in the current situation. The EU Comission should help the member states and not make bad much worse by threatening EU members in a crises like the sadly ongoing war in Ukraine!

@lesremparts660 , These are two different things and both are of course top priority: to stop the war immidiately and save lives on one hand and the secure energy supply in the EU to prevent the economy from a huge crash on the other hand. EU can never ever help Ukraine if our economy in EU would collapse because of the energy crisis. Stop killing in Ukraine would mean to start negotiations immidiately between US and Russia as this is a proxy war between theese two in which Ukraine the place where these conflict sadly takes place. Unfortunately none of these two has any common standpoint at all to start negotiations so far...although both has responsibility that this tragic war situation occured.

@lesremparts660 , You sadly don't understand what I have written. And by the way, we all live in the same world regardless our values. We don't need to think the same or agree but we need to try having reasonable relationship countries among, just because we travel in the same ship. Today we have 3 superpowers and they have their own goals and interests. That is anaivity and a mistake for us in the EU to think that some of these 3 superpowers do has the same interests as us. They absolutely don't! The EU has the intest to have not only freedom but also energy supply that is both reliable, enough fir our needs and costs reasonable. That is not a freedom but beeing dependent buying gas and oil for several times higher than today, that is actualy a slave relationship based on hysterical political view of interests.
