With that experience, Americans should have learned that Russia would not accept NATO military troops, bases, and offensive hardware close to their borders. Just like Americans, Russia was ready to go to war to protect its national security, and that is precisely what is happening in Ukraine now.
Since the American-led NATO announced at the 2008 NATO conference in Bucharest that Ukraine and Georgia would become NATO members, many specialists in international relations, like Jeffrey Sachs and John Mearsheimer, have been telling the American government and everyone else that NATO expansion posed a threat to core Russian national security. They warned that if NATO expansion continues, it will eventually lead to war.
And here we are, with foolish American governments not listening, and Europeans having no say. Consequently, we find ourselves in a war.
Russia's legitimate security concerns have been ignored, and the Russians had to speak in the only language these people understand!
