My understanding goes along what Putin said in the interview: Russia will fight "to the end" and I do understand that they will not refrain from using all means at their disposal to prevent American led NATO, with their troops, military bases and offensive hardware, including missiles that could reach the Kremlin in minutes at their borders with Ukraine. As simple as that.
