  1. There were citizens from 90 countries who perished because of the 911 terrorist attacks including British and other NATO allies so it was more than an attack on one. Further, much of the support were airborne planes backfilling gaps created by American planes providing support to NATO at the time of the attacks. Our NATO European allies like to forget there were certain NATO allies who did not support the Article 5 after 911 which is their choice. President Trump said during his joint press conference that the US would provide a backstop for the British troops. He emphasized and the Prime Minister acknowledged the US always has the British backs.
