Decades of European "Self Defense fatigue" led to today's predictable "Ukraine fatigue". No wonder so many NATO allies worry about a second Trump presidency since these allies to this day send million of Euros in LNG/ oil profits to Russia. These "concerned" NATO allies ignored then President Trump's repeated warnings about Russia using these profits to modernize and ramp up military capabilities used to destroy Ukraine and threaten NATO today. Europe's response? They completed construction of the Nordstream 2 pipeline. Europe “systematically demilitarized itself because it didn’t need to spend the money,” thanks to the lack of an apparent threat and U.S. military dominance around the globe, said Anthony King, a professor of war studies at the University of Warwick. “They have basically gone to sleep.” Post Cold War, European governments slashed military spending to fund everything from pensions to healthcare, raising wealth and standards of living across the continent while hollowing out their militaries. American military officials and every American president since Dwight D. Eisenhower urged Europe to carry more of their defense burden. That "elephant in the room" is the millions of American taxpayers tired of Europeans expecting America to carry the majority of Europe's defense burdens like America paying like paying 70% of NATO's expenditures in 2022.

@Crashed131963 Before the destruction of the Nordstream pipes, the EU sent billions of LNG profits for Russia for over 8 years since Russia's three invasions of Ukraine since 2014. Russia uses other nations' flagged LNG ship transports as well as countries like Saudia Arabia willing to import Russian LNG & oil then export it to the UK and EU. Russia delivered around 60 BCM of LNG to the EU in 2022. In 2021, the UK & EU imported 45% of its oil, LNG, diesel providing Russia with $147.8 billion in profits. You're ignoring the key point: President Trump's warning that those profits buy a lot of Russian artillery shells, tanks and ammo.
