Former British Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Grant, "The problem is cultural. In the Ukrainian Army a general has as much power as a sergeant in the American Army. So he refuses to do anything. If President Zelenskyy leaves the current defense system as it is, we will lose cities. We’ll lose more than one city. We may lose 2 or 3 major cities because the senior leadership is failing in the military There’s so much evidence it’s enough for a conviction in court." Ukraine TV English 11 JAN 25 LTC Glen Grant, 37 years of military service and 10 years of defense reform in 10 European countries primarily in Ukrainian.

Pretty pathetic after 75 years of Canada failing to adequately fund her defense so she can fulfill her NATO and NORAD requirements.

NATO Secretary General NATO "Two thirds are now spending at least 2% of GDP on defence, and that's good, and I very much welcome their efforts. But to be honest, 2% is not nearly enough. To stay safe in the years to come, Allies will need to spend considerably more than 2%. As parliamentarians, you know well that security does not come for free. You have a powerful voice, and you have a critical role to play in the debate on the urgent need to increase defence spending." Carnegie Europe 12 DEC 2024 Does the Secretary General calling on Allies to "spend considerably more than 2%" mean Mark Rutte believes NATO is a protection racquet?

President of Ukraine!

And yet this brilliant general’s political bias causes him as he admits to get so many things wrong especially about President Trump and the overwhelming majority of Americans who voted for him.

What is incredible and stunning is a brilliant US general like Ben Hodges who admits he got "so many other things wrong", ignores a Wall Street Journal piece contradicting his claims. America’s case for Greenland American ownership of Greenland is grounded in the historical and legal framework established by the 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement. This agreement empowers the U.S. to significantly influence and potentially control this strategically vital territory, The U.S. is permitted to “improve and generally fit the area for military use” without compensation to Denmark. This clause has allowed for significant American investment in Greenland’s infrastructure, further entrenching U.S. presence and influence." WSJ 28 DEC 2024

Nice avoidance of the point being the U.S. and President Trump have a strong legal claim as well as many Greenlanders expressing interest in Trump’s offer to pay cash. Why not start with that instead of your objections?

British Colonel (retired) Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, "One is getting the feeling he realizes that the cards are all in President Trump’s hands. President Trump could lead to the complete demise of President Putin or a way out. Putin knows his only way out is some sort of orderly withdrawal from Ukraine rather than complete defeat. If the Russian army is defeated in Ukraine, Putin is finished. I think Trump does hold the key here." War & Politics 24 13 JAN 25 During President Trump's presidency, no US ally was invaded nor new war begun. Trump sent US Soldiers to Ukraine to implement the military and political reforms he achieved.

Having served under him in two commands, I agree he is brilliant. Unfortunately, his political beliefs are why he got and gets so many things wrong about President Trump. Also, it seems General Hodges is more loyal to the global uniparty of the American and European cultural elites than America he took an oath to defend.

@Rockall57 So nothing he says about the inept, Soviet style Ukrainian army's senior leadership and chain of command is true?

Unfortunately, this brilliant General I served in two subordinate General Officer commands in Germany has political bias that supports leaders who ignored everything he said for the past three years. He cannot bring himself to admit that President Trump was and will be much better for the US, NATO and Ukraine.

Congressional Republicans forced Joe Biden to send Ukraine ATACMS which he proceeded to put absurd restrictions on Ukraine's use of them like so many US weapons. Don't count on General Ben Hodge giving President Trump much credit for any Trump successes in bring this war to an end. Days after the recent US election, Hodges disparaged anyone who voted for President Trump as having disregarded for the US Constitution. Ironically, for three years, Joe Biden ignored everything General Hodges said must be done for Ukraine to successfully defend herself.
