  1. Personally: I'd use a 2.0 ltr V6 (Hot twin-turbos) Diesel-Hybrid, mated to a CVT gearbox + AWD. I keep the engine components as light as possible, whilst making up for the lack of torque (relative) via electric motors. I'd also use a technology I've designed and tested: a passive electric generater that requires the vehicle to be moving. A fraction of the KERS systems, in terms of weight (unsprung), cost and complexity.
