@martinbuchan9432 Specifically the women and civilian roles. You're talking about honouring the fallen, yet miss the millions of average people that - regardless of "side" - suffered and literally supported the countries through bombardment and invasion.
You're taught, like I was, one side of the story. Yet many sacrifices weren't paid in combat.
I've spent 35 years serving in the military and the private sector. Seen the effects of my countries actions, the actions of soldiers and the "overlooked" parts of war. My great grandfathers served in 'Black Watch' and 'Seaforth Highlanders', along side the Nepalese during WW1.
Laying flowers at the graves is so underwhelming, don't you even dare think you can poo-poo the sacrifices of those you're not taught about in school.
Go to Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Bosnia, Kashmir and talk to the people about the effects of war. Then have the gall to tell me I'm wrong.
