  1. As a European, the tipping structure in the USA seems predatory. Why should you be tipping someone for doing their job? Do you tip you mechanic - someone who uses actual skills to fix a problem.

  2. It appears that the tip structure is so as the customer is off-setting the wages that the employer should pay. Why else would the lowest paying jobs be tip-based?
