(50 + n)(50 - n) = 50² - n² < 50². I am actually surprised however, intuitively I thought the factorial would win.

My approach is usually letting you solve it and giving you a thumbs up as a reward 😉

Very clever and clearly explained solution for the problem. Your videos are a delight.
88
Very cool. Somehow your videos are also very relaxing.

Thank you Susanne, I enjoyed this solution tremendously! Back in the days, I might have been able solve this but I have forgotten most of the equations by now.
63
I did it in 3 steps: 1) Paused the video so I could read the problem 2) Stared blankly at it for several minutes, trying to work out how to start 3) Eventually unpaused the video and watched your solution

Your teaching style is fantastic! It's great that you don't skip any steps, no matter how simple or obvious they might seem to be. I've always been of the opinion that a teacher should not make any assumptions about how "easy" or "obvious" something is and, instead, just explain everything. It's far better to over explain something than to not give enough explanation and leave the student confused.

I think the world would be a far better place if there were more maths teachers like Susanne

It's just phenomenal how well you can explain math. And the key to explaining math is using different colors in the right place. 👍🏻
49
Some senior citizens try to preserve their mental acuity with crossword, sudoku, or wordle puzzles. Me... I work your math problems. Thank you for helping me to stay sharp.
46
I follow your lovely channel to keep my 75 year old brain cells challenged. Enjoyable. Thank you, Susanne.
35
beautiful to see how well you prepared to explain it to an English audience. Using the full quadratic formula instead of the PQ-formula used in your German videos and writing the 1 as a simple line instead of the arial style with the extra upstroke). Just to mention two examples I noticed. Must have taken some practice to make sure you get it right. Thank you Susanne !
33
You make everything so simple, clear, and easy to understand. Thank you for this outstanding video.
33
I'm 70 and I still saw that solution immediately.
32
I had forgotten most of this. Thank you for the refresher course!
31
Susanne, you are the greatest thing that has happened to math since Isaac Newton! Your spirit is awesome and makes learning math fun! Keep making the fun and informative content!

I love this channel. I'm in my 50s and just following along for fun. I forgot a LOT from my high school and college days like the quadratic equation. Thanks for posting these.
22
As a fellow Mathematician, I want to take a moment to say that you present your content so beautifully! I'm curious to know what inspired you to learn Mathematics?
20
Apparantly I don't hate mathematics. I just needed teachers who actually taught instead of just beating students who had learning difficulties. Thank you for explaining the solution so well. None of my teachers in school could even come close to you.

My bachelor’s degree is math, and my other degrees required considerable math applications as did my career. I am 76 years old and retired and I really enjoy your channel as it helps keep my mind active, and it also helps me remember old knowledge I had forgotten. You may have nudged me to volunteer to tutor students having trouble with math (as long as it’s not partial differential equations).

Thank you very much! I suddenly realize that in school, they taught us without explaining why. For example, when moving a term to the other side of an equation and simply changing its sign from positive to negative, they didn't tell us that what we're actually doing is subtracting the number from both sides of the equation. That makes it much more logical, of course! ❤

Junior high, high school, and even college, I could never get proofs. That is until today. Clearly explained and well presented. Thank you for your channel.

I am a lecturer in the physical sciences for over 30 years now and I just learnt something and I did it from THE most soothing voice ever! Vielen Dank, Susanne du bist wunderbar. Best wishes from the UK.

It's been about 50 or 55 years since I directly applied this math, however, your clear instruction was the review I needed for it all to come back crystal clear!
17
AN EXCELLENT MATHEMATICS TEACHER .
16
Gosh, I could listen to you solve math problems forever… you’re one in a googoplex!
16
I have a master's in mathematics, so this is nothing new to me. I just choose to come here cause I like your vibe :)
15
I wish that every math student in the world would have a teacher with your patience and skills - I admire you :-)
15
Brilliant! you explain all the steps so clearly, and makes them understandable and accessible to learners. Thank you so much.
15
I love these geometry puzzles! Thank you Susanne!

I wanted to share with fellow viewers an interesting story involving the square root of 2. It is said that the person who proved that the square root of 2 is an irrational number ended up getting thrown off a boat (the Pythagoreans believed that all numbers should be rational). So, the main lesson from this story is: NEVER do math while you're on a boat filled with irrational people.

Teachers teach their subject, but above all they teach who they are to their pupils. May many pupils benefit from you and your lessons, they will become good pupils and good people!
14
I am not sure if it is because of your enthusiasm and delivery of the subject matter or the fact that I must be a total geek but I LOVE your channel! Thank you! 🧡
14
I really like seeing problems like this. Thanks for the video, Susanne!
13
very nice explanation, I used to do these MANY years ago, good to refresh my "little gray cells"
13
I love these kind of puzzles! Thanks for walking me through!
13
It has something relaxing to watch you do the math. 😁 I think about the problem for a minute and then I watch your video.
11
Continue shining with your incredible work; you are truly remarkable! 😊
11
Nice! I like both, the math and the well-structured explanation in fluent English 😊 🙂👻
11
I am loving the math queen!

Very 😂good teacher. I am a grandma remembering my college mathematics. Thank you. It is fun!
10
Very good ! I have often seen this kind of puzzle and wondered HOW it might be solved !!!

She finds ways to make Math entertaining.. respect

I started the video with no concept of what the title meant and by the end I felt like a genius. Thank you for these videos - I really look forward to them.

You’re really helping me keep up with my daughters’ homework - thank you!

It's always nice to listen to you :) and also see other ideas. I would have solved it with two triangles in the middle (which made it a one-liner since the height of both triangles and the base are known), but your solution refreshes some different knowledge again :)

New viewer here. I always love the way you start of the video wishing your viewers with the sweetest smile and voice. Thanks and keep going.
8
Your method of teaching is soothing and grasping. Keeps my attn. You have a great accent for being German.🤔
8
Good way to start a weekend! A few minutes of math! Better than starting the weekend with a hangover, for certain! 😆
7
Thank you so much for your clear and ever so friendly explanations! Love your channel
