  6. I've been a lifelong general contractor homebuilder who always wore a tool belt. I didn't drive around in an expensive truck, supervising employees. I did the work. I can say that there is very little pride in the trades anymore. The idea is to get the job done as cheaply and quickly as possible and make as much profit as possible. Nearly impossible to find highly-skilled tradesmen who take pride in their work. Just another symptom of a collapsing society.

  8. I’ve been home inspector and handyman for the last 40 years and I’ve worked on a lot of homes. I will not live in a house that was built after 1985. The house I’m currently in was built 1965 and it is rock, solid all miter joints and joists and framing is spot onthe house is rock solid all the kitchen cabinets were built in place and they look as good as they were made, this house is amazing.

I don’t smoke or drink, and I can relate to this video. I don’t know my apartment neighbors because I work long hours, and I can’t afford to have a child. Where I live, a one-bedroom apartment starts at $2,000, and a two-bedroom costs around $2,800 per month. I make $118,000 per year, which is enough to support myself, but I can’t confidently say I could afford to raise a family. I’d like to have a child, but what’s happening to the U.S. economy is a shame.

  22. I am mexican living in the US, I work for a biotech company. I got here in 2022 and the prices of all the things are more expensive every year. I have been living in different countries and I have never experienced this frustration that things are more expensive, and that I have to limit myself even I work "hard". I have some savings and planning to go back to Mexico at the end of the year. I have a house in Playa del Carmen and planning to start a business or find a job over there. There are things of the US that I like but the situation now in this country is not good. I hope that things will improve for the people of this country.

  34. Powerful words, much respect from an English guy living in Poland. I left the UK in 2020, retired early and with my Polish wife, decided to move to a country I fell in love with. I still feel anchored to my roots, it breaks my heart to see how much the UK has lost it's soul, it's native population has been driven into the ground by a political doctrine that has dripped into our institutions over a period of time, all by design. Our cities are lost, have no ethnic identity, just a melting pot of different groups whom have nothing in common who have no historical connection to the country that gave them an opportunity, they are emboldened by a system that gives them privilege and protection, at the same time the native Brit is demonised, attacked and sent to prison for expressing concern and anger about the direction of the UK, they are literally second class citizens in their own country. Tragic, those responsible should pay the price for their treason.

  37. Right before covid i bought raw land in Mexico, a couple weeks ago i finished building the roof on the second story. It was a really long journey but it feels so good to get it done without a single loan, just brick by brick. People see my house and ask me how i can afford it and when i tell them i lived in my car for over a year to do it they say nevermind. 😂😂

  41. I live in my Toyota Tacoma truck which has a camper shell. I don't pay rent, utilities, homeowners insurance, or property taxes. I shower each night at Planet Fitness, which costs 25 dollars a month. I stay warm in the winter by heating up water for coffee on my cook stove, and I park in the shade to stay cool in the summer. When I lived in my apartment, I was broke all the time. Now that I live in my truck, I save 2,000 dollars a month.

  42. After I sold my house in Virginia, I lived out of hotels all over the US for over 1 year. The stories I could tell. But in a nutshell, the amount of fighting and yelling I was forced to listen to from other "guests" is unbelievable. I stayed at over 60-70+ hotels in the US and probably can count on one hand the number of positive experiences I had. I'm telling you- Americans are falling apart. Anyway... I finally completed my move to southern Brazil last November. I've been living out of hotels and pousadas (small Mom and Pop owned apartments) since arriving and I can't believe the difference. No yelling, no fighting. Just a lot of laughter. Brazilians are a happy bunch. Just the other day I could hear the owner of the pousada laughing it up next door to my apartment. I went outside and down in the valley I could hear another guy laughing it up at the same time as the owners. The difference is absolutely amazing. Anyway... I'm going to settlement soon on a farm I made an offer on and will finally get my own place. But I will never forget the difference between the USA and Brazil. Oh... and I spent last August traveling around Italy... no yelling or fighting there either. America and Americans are a mess.

  46. I'm lucky enough to have land in the family in Puerto Rico. I saw all this coming back in 2008 and started prepping by planting tons of fruit and nut trees. Fast forward to 2025 and my business and career in NYC were destroyed by Covidians, I have zero future prospects here as a 51 year old. I'm not even getting called back for entry level positions in my former field (where I was one of the most well known gardeners in NYC). I I'm outta here by Summer to move to my land and start over. Fuck this place. It has zero future.

  47. I was diagnosed 1year ago with cancer. I live in Crete and was in need of immediate care. I had to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy at a public hospital in Heraclion Crete. I was amazed by the fact that despite the incredible amount of people waiting for chemo, the staff was so well organised and so willing to provide care to everyone. Everything i needed, and still need, prescriptions, doctors notices, i just call them and get the prescription on my phone. I really wish to say that despite the many problems of the health system, the staff works very hard to provide care for the people in need, and they succeed. I wish to thank them for their hard work and kindness.
