  6. I think you should have gone into more detail on the carbon fiber hull. Most people already know how the submersible works. However many comments don’t understand why carbon fiber is inferior to titanium in deep sea diving. You could explain how composites work and how the CEO knew it had a limited lifespan. That way everybody understands why this disaster happened.

  8. I am a Naval Architect with submersible design training. You show the implosion as in crushing a can. It was way more violent. The atmosphere in the vessel was suddenly compressed by the pressure. It greatly heated. Think diesel engine times 20+. At high pressures and temperatures, air (O2 and N2) become reactive, and "burn" (combine into NOx, explode). Pressures get even higher, and a gas bubble forms. The pressure and temperature of the water cools and collapses the bubble. So the collapse is three events: sudden high pressure, an explosion, and collapsing of the gas bubble. Extreme mechanical violence lasting fractions of milliseconds.

  24. Some comments talking trash of this helicopter when they don’t realize it was more of an infrastructure and training problem and not the helicopter itself. It performs on par to the Apache and using Ukraine as a reference point of these helicopter’s effectiveness is not a fair comparison given that this is essentially the first real world application to modern warfare between fairly modern nations. People seem to forget that that air superiority is established with jets and bombers well before US forces deploy them hence why Russia had a hard time dealing with ground based anti-air. They failed to establish air superiority hence why KA-52 are getting shot down more often. My team have recovered wrecked apaches littered the throughout the Middle East in a span of 25 years, and to say AH-64D/E are better than these in practice is a misleading comparison.

  40. I am a superintendent​ in underground construction in San Diego. I specialize in pump stations. Im familiar with LAs water systems, as well as orange county and i know San Diego counties water system by heart. A lot of California water towers are aided by pump stations not just gravity now, to increase pressure and volume. I've built three myself in the last 5 years. All pump stations are built with huge backup generators that switch within 5 seconds of a power outage. These tanks can be quickly filled with what are called force main pump stations north of LA. The pumps are bigger than most houses and also have redundancy in terms of electricity. From what I've researched, other reservoirs and aqueducts were ready with crews to pump south, but never got the go ahead. They werent told no, it was just radio silence. I can confirm this as my friend is a superintendent in a certain water district north of LA. The government failed to make critical decisions. Israel who also suffers from wildfires like these, offered to send a specialized wildfire battalion to help. They were ready to get on the plane. The city of LA turned them down and said not to come.

  44. Several people told Stockton Rush that carbon fiber might not be the best material to use to construct a submersible but he knew it all apparently. Instead or wrapping several layes of carbon fibers at angles, the whole center section was one in one direction. Again, I guess he knew better than anyone else. When it imploded, which was inevitable, it basically self destructed and the people inside vaporized in a couple of milliseconds. I guess he really didn't know shit after all.
